StatSoft Provides Predictive Analytics Software for Statistics.com Course
StatSoft is providing STATISTICA Data Miner, predictive analytics software,
for Statistics.com's
STATISTICA Data Miner Practicum class.Registrations are being accepted for this
class, which starts on June 10, 2011.
StatSoft's innovative Data Miner Recipes (DMR) will be used,which guides the user through the predictive analytics process.
DMR enables the user to take data(even if they are not perfect) and quickly apply "best practices,"
obtain and test outcomes (validate models),and then move on to refine the results without the need of
an advanced degree in statistics or predictive modeling.No one has "perfect data,"
but everyone needs fast,actionable results.

Blogs About STATISTICA - The Groundhog: Friend or Fraud?

StatSoft recently added new bloggers. You will find these blogs to be very entertaining and educational.

Groundhog Day is perhaps my favorite rodent-related holiday.
Some background from Wikipedia for those unfamiliar with the February 2 tradition:
"According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day,
it will leave the burrow, signifying that winter will soon end.
If on the other hand, it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly 'see its shadow' and
retreat back into its burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks."
The largest US celebration takes place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. At 7:25 a.m. local time,
the groundhog known as "Punxsutawney Phil" gives his official "prediction." To my surprise,
the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration actually tracks the groundhog's prediction
and notes whether the proceeding February temperatures were above or below normal.
